Spotlight on Sports

๐ŸŽฎ Sports and Games ๐ŸŽฎ

Sports includes all forms of competitive physical activity or games which through casual or organized participation to maintain or improve physical activity and skills while providing enjoyment to participants and spectators. Sports can bring positive results to one’s physical health.

The National Sports Day is celebrated on 29th August, on the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, who is regarded as nation's greatest hockey player of all time. It is celebrated to make people aware about importance of sports.

“When I die, the world will cry, but India’s people will not shed a tear for me, I know them.”                          --Major Dhyan Chand--

In certain sports such as racing, many contestants may compete simultaneously or consecutively with one winner in others the contest is between 2 sides, each attempting to exceed other. It is 100% true that Sports is an important part of our life and every child student wants to participate in sports and play game.

“True sportsmanship is excellence in motion!”

The application of the term sport to a wider set of non-physical challenges such as video games also called e-Sports. But these are not widely recognized by mainstream sports. Now the popularity of e-game is increase rapidly. Especially in this quarantine time people are playing Ludo King, PUBG, Free Fire etc.

It is regret to say that nowadays children are move towards to online gaming or mobile game. They are not bothered about physical sport. They are become lazy to go out, play with friends and spent time with nature. I think this problem is not only the fault of children but also changing infrastructure of modern age. Present civilization is modified into urbanization. Open fields are diminishing exponentially. There is no playground to play in front of house/colony which made small kids restricted inside the wall of their house.

The COVID-19 pandemic upended all areas of life and sports is no exception. Due to COVID-19 all the sports events are postponed and some events are cancelled. People were eagerly wait for their favorite sports in order to make their summer vacation glorious/joyful. This first time in the sports history that all the sports are cancelled at a time for such a long duration of time.

Social distancing measures, brought into limit the spread to corona, have had a significance effect on sporting fixtures. Now Tokyo Olympics which is world’s most watched sporting broadcasts, has been pushed back a year. it is postponed to 2021 over corona virus.

The first ODI of the three-match series between Australia and New Zealand was played behind closed doors. This is the first time any cricket match was hosted without audience behind closed doors.

Now see another news: Real Madrid joined Juventus in isolation after contact with an athlete who tested positive for the coronavirus, and UEFA said it would meet to discuss the effects on its competitions. Italian experts are also blaming football championship match played on Feb 19 as major reason behind corona breakout in Italy, as the first corona patient is detected after two days of that match.

Let’s discuss most famous cricket event of T20 format IPL. IPL is successfully completed 12th year. But it seems to be the 13th year of IPL is quite unlucky. I hope this will not be happen this year. A news came from social media is that IPL 2020 will be held at Sri Lanka, but it is quite surprising. Although one IPL season is successfully organized at South Africa earlier.

The non-stop sports entertainment we’ve come to expect has come to a halt. Now broadcasting channel is are toil for engaging their audience using new technology like Cricket Connected (star sports) and many more.

“Life is a game. Have the sportsmanship to enjoy it.”
